Batgirl is having a rough time of it dodging laser fire from a
killer robot. But never fear, her pal Supergirl shows up to put this metal meanie
in its place!
I built this diorama several years ago as an article for the
now defunct magazine Modeler's Resource. The figures were these 1/24th scale
plastic blanks from Preiser. After selecting the figures and what pose I wanted
them in, I created the Supergirl and Batgirl outfits out of Apoxie putty.
The robot they're fighting is a model kit from Nitto, which is roughly 1/20th in
scale. The laser shooting out of his arm is an illuminated plastic rod from
Evergreen. The base is scratch built from styrofoam sheets. The parking meter and
sewer drain is also scratch-built by me. This version of Supergirl's costume is
based on the 1990s Superman: The Animated Series (it was also the outfit she
wore in a comic book series written by Peter David)
