My Spiderman Diorama

By Sean Farrell

I bought a Toy Biz Spiderman model kit some time ago with the intention of doing a quick build up--you know, just something that would be fun to slap together and paint in a weekend. Well, it didn't turn out to be that easy, but it was still fun. You see, the original base had Spiderman standing over some kind of giant spider. I really wasn't crazy about this idea. After I finished the model, I tossed the original base and decided to make my own.

Spiderman isn't also known as "The Wall Crawler" for nothing, and since this was a styrene kit, which made it pretty light, I decided to put the Wall Crawler on a wall. The brick wall is made from a sheet of Balsa Foam. I sculpted the brick pattern, then painted it red and gray. The Balsa Foam wall is held up by sheets of Balsa Core. Apoxie Putty worked very well in securing Spidey to the wall.
