This is another 1/35 scale kit from Tamyia that I built straight out of the box.
This tank was the German Panzer IV, which had "skirt" armor mounted on racks
on both the body and turret as a way to combat the use of hollow charge anit-tank
weapons that were being used by the Soviet troops. This tank was also outfitted
with a larger, more powerful main gun. Between this and the armor, the Mark IV
was often confused with the Tiger tank. Although the Mark IV is not in the same
class as the Tiger, it's large numbers made it a true workhorse of the German army.
I painted the model a dark yellow and gave it dark green camo stripes. You can see
some of the armor plates have fallen off, which is what happened often in the
heat of battle. The tank tracks that are welded on the front of the tank served
as extra protection.
