I made this fantasy diorama with a Mascot metal sorceress figure and a
resin Nemrod "Beach Girl" figure. Since she's solid metal, there wasn't much I
could do with the sorceress other than to give her an Apoxie leopard bikini and paint her.
I reworked the kneeling Beach Girl figure into a captured female warrior who is
about to be offered up as a sacrifice to the beastie that's being called forth
from the pit.
The base is a sheet of Balsa Foam. I carved a stone work pattern that resembled a
spider web that emitted from the pit, to show that our lovely red-haired warrior
was a captive in the sorceress' web of evil. The bench the bound warrior sits on
was scratch-built from plastic sheet and tubes. The creature's claws were scratch
built from plastic rods and wires that were covered with Apoxie.
I did this as
an experiment to see how well I could carve stonework from Balsa Foam, as well as
how well I could create a pair of creature claws. Thankfully, the diorama turned
out better than I had thought it would.
